A study of 1000 smokers has found an association between successful quitting and the amount of fruit and veg they ate. Those who ate the most were the most likely to be smoke-free for at least 30 days. Possible reasons? Fruit and vegies are satisfying, so there’s less need to replace hunger with smoking; or fruit and vegies may actually make cigarettes taste worse (unlike other foods such as meat and alcohol).
Sping pasta.
320g farfalle (or other short pasta) 2 bunches asparagus, trimmed, cut into 2cm lengths 200g store-bought roasted capsicum, peeled, sliced 300g skinless barbecue chicken, shredded 1/4 cup low-fat balsamic dressing. Cook pasta according to packet instructions, adding asparagus in the last 2 minutes of cooking time. Drain well. Step 2 Transfer pasta and asparagus to a large bowl. Add capsicum, chicken and balsamic dressing. Toss to combine then serve.
